MLK Day of Service

MLK Day of Service

Vanguard employees and UPenn School of Social Policy & Practice students volunteered their time and energy on MLK Day to help paint one of the ACHIEVEability homes.

This project was part of the 20th Annual Global Citizen Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, which is the largest King Day event in the nation.

In accordance with Dr. King’s dream of creating communities rooted in freedom, justice, equality, and peace, in 1994 the US Congress established the MLK federal holiday to be a national day of service. ACHIEVEability has been honoring this day over the past several years by working with volunteers to help prepare homes and provide services for families in the program and local West Philadelphia community.

This year's project was a great opportunity to honor Dr. King’s life, work and values through a collective action that can truly help strengthen our Philadelphia community. ACHIEVEability would like to thank all of the MLK Day of Service volunteers who participated in the project.
