Volunteer Recognition Reception

Volunteer Recognition Reception

On Monday, June 9, 2014 ACHIEVEability honored our volunteers who provided support during the past year at the annual Volunteer Recognition Reception.

The event was held at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse in Center City Philadelphia. We were excited to have a good turnout from many of our dedicated and committed volunteer groups and supporters including Bank of America, the Community Advisory Committee, De Lage Landen, members of the Food for Thought Committee, The Higgins Group, Merck, PECO, Valley Enterprises, Vanguard, the Young Friends of ACHIEVEability and members of our Board of Directors. During the program, we were honored to recognize PECO as our Group Volunteer of the Year and Denise Green as our Individual Volunteer of the Year.

In addition, we honored Josh Young as our first recipient of the Joey Novielli Award. Joey Novielli was a passionate and enthusiastic individual, who in a short period of time, demonstrated his commitment to the ACHIEVEability mission by serving as Committee Co-Chair of the Young Friends of ACHIEVEability and volunteering as a Food for Thought committee member. To honor his memory, ACHIEVEability and the Novielli family created an annual award which recognizes a young professional for his/her passion and exceptional commitment to the ACHIEVEability mission. Members of the Novielli family, including Joey's parents Joseph and Karen Novielli and his siblings Mario Novielli and Monica Novielli, were in attendance at the event.

PECO - Group Volunteer of the Year
Over the past year, PECO has offered their support in several ways from sponsoring our various fundraisers, to offering volunteer services during our Housing Makeover Projects, and to providing leadership on our Board of Directors. A special thanks to PECO Corporate Contributions Manager Tiffany Tavarez who is a passionate supporter of our organization. We would also like to thank Mary Walker, Manager of Talent Management & Acquisition for her contributions as a Board Member.

Denise Green - Individual Volunteer of the Year
Denise Green has been actively involved with ACHIEVEability over the past year serving on the ACHIEVEability Board of Directors and as a Co-Chair of the ACHIEVEability Community Advisory Committee. Denise has been a great supporter of our mission and will always lend a helping hand where it is needed.

Josh Young - Joey Novielli Award

As the very first recipient of the Joey Novielli Award, Josh Young had the pleasure of working closely with Joey Novielli on the Young Friends committee and as a member of the Food for Thought committee. In addition, Josh has volunteered during Vanguard Day of Caring and MLK Day of Service projects and led his own group volunteer project. Josh has clearly demonstrated passion and commitment to our organization.

A special thanks to ACHIEVEability Board Member and Del Frisco's Regional Manager Rich Furino for hosting the event and to Skip Gittens and Valley Enterprises for donating candles to our guests.
