The State of Our Community

On September 7, 2013, more than 100 residents from Haddington and Cobbs Creek neighborhoods attended ACHIEVEability’s “The State of Our Community” event, which took place at Boys’ Latin Charter School.

During the event, residents got the opportunity to ask local decision makers questions regarding zoning and education. Residents were encouraged to stay involved and to keep open lines of communication with their government delegates and with the neighborhood Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The esteemed panel included Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, Joshua Cohen (Special Assistant to the Majority Leader Councilman Curtis Jones), DELETE State Representative Ronald Waters, State Representative James Roebuck and long time ACHIEVEability CAC member and community advocate Ruth Bazemore.

Also, in honor of “Back-to-School Season”, ACHIEVEability gave away backpacks filled with school supplies to more than 40 students. The backpacks were donated by generous friends of ACHIEVEability including the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, Cradles to Crayons, Urban Outfitters, Vanguard, and various individual donors.
