Collaboration with the Community

On Tuesday, June 12, 2012 the ACHIEVEability Community Services Office hosted the Collaboration with the Community event at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

There were more than 60 local residents in attendance who learned about the various programs and community services provided by ACHIEVEability and the Haddington Cobbs Creek CDC. These programs include: financial assistance, youth programming, career exploration, howeownership programs, an advisory committee, computer classes, advocacy and much more.

Mount Carmel Baptist Church Minister of Education Reverend William Henry gave the opening prayer and remarks for the event. ACHIEVEability CEO Marcus Allen presented the Take Back Vacant Land Campaign and urged everyone in attendance to provide support for this initiative. ACHIEVEability Board Secretary and Haddington Cobbs Creek CDC Board Chair Danyl Patterson gave an overview of services provided by the Community Services Office and the CDC. Community Services Manager Nijah Famous spoke about the ACHIEVEability Family Self-Sufficiency Program and IDA program. In addition, members from each subcommittee for the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) presented information for upcoming events and activities.

All attendees were encouraged to complete a community services survey. The survey is designed to help the Community Services Office to provide the community with accurate and needed information about resources and services. If you are a resident residing in Carrol Park, Cobbs Creek, Haddington or Overbrook, please consider taking the survey by clicking here.

ACHIEVEability would like to send a special thank you to Reverend Albert Campbell and Mount Carmel Baptist Church for providing the location for the event.

Please mark your calendars for the CAC Town Hall meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2012  from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The meeting will take place at Mercy Hospital and will focus on Medicaid and Medicare services for seniors.
