ACHIEVEability encourages clients to work at least 30 hours per week and, at the same time, we understand that our clients may need to develop skills to find a rewarding job situation. That’s why our self-sufficiency and academic coaches provide training, assessment and counseling to aid our clients’ transition into the workforce.
The center, located near most ACHIEVEability homes, is open seven days a week and has 20 networked computers and multimedia equipment. IBM, through United Way, has donated three Young Explorers computers and workstations, which are specially designed for children aged three to seven years. Our staff and volunteers provide assessments, individual and group instruction on academic, computer and multimedia topics.
ACHIEVEability believes in building capacity from within our client base. Thirty-one percent of ACHIEVEability's staff consists of current or former clients, including two self-sufficiency coaches and a housing and community development associate.
