Mission - Achieveability

Mission/Vision

ACHIEVEability is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization working to permanently break the cycle of poverty for many single parent, low-income families, many formerly homeless, through education, supportive services, community and economic development, housing, and accountability.

ACHIEVEability’s mission is directly implemented through our Family Self-Sufficiency Program. This unique and ongoing program is the process we use to permanently break the cycle of poverty.  We help our clients become self-reliant by providing a full range of academic, employment, housing and family support services to maximize each family’s growth. Clients may enter our program with no more than the skills of a third- or fourth-grade student, but our ultimate goal for them is a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent. ACHIEVEability’s program is unique. We provide a great deal of support to help our clients attain their goals, but we have expectations in return. In order to remain in the program, all clients are encouraged to work at least 30 hours per week, must accure at least 15 credits per year toward a post-secondary degree or its equivalent, and must attend regular workshops on issues such as parenting, home maintenance, and financial management.
