Two hundred thirty-six years ago our country's forefathers issued a Declaration of Independence, announcing to the world its independence from Great Britain and its belief in basic human rights.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

Centuries and decades removed from this historic moment, our Nation and its people still uphold these beliefs set forth in this document. However, with the ever growing divide between the wealthy and the impoverished in our country, there has become a sense of disenfranchisement for the latter. As a people, we need to reinvest our energy into ensuring a future that undoubtedly defends these unalienable rights for everyone.

As a champion for our most vulnerable population, ACHIEVEability is helping single parent, low-income and homeless families to obtain independence from poverty. ACHIEVEability provides the foundation of stable housing, the support to earn college degrees and the expediency to hold its families accountable. By providing this model of success for our families, ACHIEVEability underscores the idea of a "hand up", not a "hand out."

ACHIEVEability understands dignity, that all people have the right to a fair life. ACHIEVEability promotes independence, that all people have the right to liberty. ACHIEVEability believes in success, that all people have the right to pursue happiness. This 4th of July, please consider the importance of ACHIEVEability and its mission.
